Pamela Renee Wilson, State Senate Seat District 20

Small Business Owner | Community Advocate | Idahoan

Door knocking across our district, I hear the same worries again and again: the rising cost of food, gas, and housing, and a deep concern for our kids' education, healthcare, and bodily autonomy.

Idaho ranks 50th in the nation for education spending, investing just $11,000 per child compared to a national average over $15,000, and the last legislative session cut that even further. Our healthcare is in crisis too. Since the trigger ban that followed the overturning of Roe, Idaho has lost 43% of its OBGYNs, and families are struggling to find the care they need. Medical decisions belong between a woman and her doctor. On top of that, many Idahoans are losing the Medicaid coverage they depend on to survive.

We have to put human dignity and freedom ahead of divisive rhetoric. My own freedoms as a woman are being threatened, and I refuse to stay quiet. I refuse to be bullied. I'm running for State Senate because we need a change, and I believe that change is coming. Please vote for change.
My story begins with the hardworking values of my parents. My father, a WWII Army Air Corps veteran born in 1924, and my mother, a Twin Falls laundromat worker born in 1934, taught me the importance of honesty and grit. After my father’s time in the Australian oil fields and their marriage in 1955, they eventually settled back in Twin Falls, where I was raised from the age of 12. The lessons I learned watching them—of community service and quiet responsibility—have guided my life ever since.

Growing up in Idaho shaped my perspective on what it means to build a life here. I saw firsthand how a family could thrive through manual labor and steady determination. I carry that Idaho legacy with me today, understanding that our state’s strength isn’t found in its politicians, but in the families like mine who worked the land, fixed the trucks, and supported their neighbors through thick and thin.
I am not a career politician; I am a retired small business owner who spent over 30 years building a career in the state I love. After attending cosmetology school, I moved to Boise in 1980 and took the leap to open my own salon in the 8th Street Marketplace in 1991. Successfully operating that business until 2005 taught me exactly what it takes to balance a budget, manage a team, and navigate the economic realities that Idaho families face every single day.

Beyond the balance sheets, my professional journey was about people. As a stylist and salon owner, I spent decades listening to the stories, concerns, and dreams of my clients. That experience gave me a unique, "boots-on-the-ground" understanding of our community. I know that building a successful life in Idaho requires hard work, and I believe our policies should reward that effort rather than making it harder for small businesses to survive.
Giving back has always been a core part of who I am. From 1990 to 2004, I served as a volunteer with the National Ski Patrol at Bogus Basin, providing emergency medical care to our community in the mountains we all cherish. Those fourteen years on the mountain taught me how to stay calm under pressure and how to show up for my neighbors when they are at their most vulnerable.

Whether I was providing first aid on a snowy slope or acting as a caregiver for my elderly parents, I have always stepped up when called upon. I believe that true leadership is about service, not status. My time at Bogus Basin wasn't just about skiing; it was about the responsibility we have to look out for one another—a principle I intend to bring to every decision I make for our district.
